Overview on Phototherapy
This course covers the use of phototherapy — blue light treatment — in the management of neonatal jaundice. Students will learn the indications for phototherapy, how the treatment works, the correct positioning of the newborn under the phototherapy unit, monitoring requirements, and the care of the baby’s eyes and skin throughout the treatment. This is a critical neonatal nursing skill for all nurses working in postnatal and neonatal units.
