Overview on Female Catheterization
This course covers the aseptic procedure for inserting a urinary catheter in a female patient. Students will learn the indications for catheterization, how to prepare the patient and equipment, the correct technique for swabbing, lubricating, and inserting the catheter, how to collect a urine specimen, and how to measure and document urinary output. This is a core clinical nursing procedure required in surgical, medical, and maternity settings.
