Overview on Care of the Normal Baby

This course covers the comprehensive routine care provided to a healthy newborn in the postnatal ward. Students will learn the head-to-toe examination of the newborn, routine hygiene care including bathing and cord care, monitoring of vital signs and weight, prophylactic treatments, and the education of the mother on newborn care. This course provides the foundation for all neonatal nursing practice.
